Stranded Colorwork 102
Have you been wanting to do colorwork but felt intimidated? This is the class for you! In this two hour class you will learn to knit stranded colorwork in this colorful headband pattern. If you’ve taken our first stranded colorwork hat class- this is the next step in stranded colorwork. (You can take this class even if you didn’t take the first one.) ;)
Finished Project: Hidden Falls Headband by Chrystal Hiatt. This is a free pattern that you can download on Ravelry or pick up in the store.
Skills Needed: You should know how to cast on, knit, purl, and decrease, and read a knitting chart. It is helpful to have knit colorwork with two colors prior to this class, as we will build on those skills.
Skills you will gain: In this two hour class you will learn to knit with three or more colors, how to adjust your tension to get a smooth fabric, and how to carry multiple floats while maintaining a pattern in the round.
Supplies: Yarn: small amounts of worsted weight yarn in three or five contrasting colors. You should have at least 12 yards of yarn in your main color, and 5 to 12 grams in each of your contrast colors. (We recommend Berroco Ultra Wool)
Needles: Size US 4/3.5 mm and US 5/3.75 mm 16 or 24 inch circular needles, and astitch marker.
*Prior to class, please cast on and knit the ribbing. Be sure to use the smaller sized needles.
At least 1 skein of class yarn should be purchased from Fox River Fibers. All supplies purchased for the class will be 10% off. Printed and electronic pattern will be provided.
