Yarn Substitution and Ravelry
Is the yarn recommended in the pattern discontinued, or too expensive, or not available where you shop? This lecture-style class will help you navigate the process of deciding how to knit a pattern with a different yarn.
We will access Ravelry and the internet to learn more about yarn weight, fiber content and construction to help you figure out what to use instead. Additionally, we’ll discuss gauge swatches, and possibly make a few in this two hour class.
Finished Project: Understanding how to choose yarn for a project when the suggested yarn isn’t available (or you don’t like it.)
Skills Needed: Ravelry account and computer, tablet or phone with access to Ravelry and the internet. You should know how to cast on, knit and purl.
Skills you will gain: How to choose a yarn other than the one recommended in the pattern. How to find the information specific to your pattern or yarn choice on various web sites and Ravelry.com. What constitutes a good choice vs an OK choice, and what to avoid.
Supplies: You’re welcome to bring a device to connect to the internet, and small quantities of various yarns, along with a set of dpns or a circular needle in size US4 and US6, and a small ruler or gauge tool.

will ship within 1-2 days of being placed. Most orders will ship USPS
unless expedited shipping is paid for at time of order. International
orders will ship via DHL. Standard USPS shipping is free on domestic
orders over $75, expedited shipping may be purchased at checkout.

In-store pick-up orders should be ready for pick-up the day the store
is open after you place it. You will receive a confirmation email when
it has shipped or is ready for pickup. If you wish to pick-up an order
in store sooner, please call the store.
If there is a problem with your order, please contact us at the email below and we will be happy to take care of it for you.
Items may be returned for in-store credit or exchange. Returns must
be in original condition as sold - unused with all labels and packaging
intact and undamaged. Our policy lasts 30 days. If 30 days have gone by
since your purchase, we unfortunately can’t offer you an in-store credit
or exchange – it’s yours, enjoy! Orders shipped internationally cannot
be returned. Books, patterns, needles, notions, kits, sale items,
discontinued items and wound yarn are not returnable.
